PANA POLICE PATROL OFFICER

Under general supervision, the patrol officer will exercise responsibility in the enforcement of state and local laws relating to public safety and welfare. The patrol officer will exercise independent judgment in dealing with dangerous or unusual situations. Physical confrontations may occur when controlling violent suspects/ offenders. Decisions at crime scenes may be centered on life or death situations. Decisions will be based on the safest procedures, and the procedures will be followed to ensure safety to individuals involved, fellow officers and the public. The patrol officer may work under stressful high risk situations and at times alone.

STREET DEPARTMENT LABORER

Under the direction of the Street Department Superintendent, the General Laborer performs day-to-day duties involving the upkeep, upgrade, construction and/or renovation of city facilities, including road maintenance, water leak repair, snow and ice removal.  This position is also subject to call-outs for emergency repairs and over-time as needed.

 

Skills and qualifications include, but are not limited to:

  • Live in the Pana School District or be willing to move into the area within 12 (twelve) months. 

  • Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, reach and lift up to 50 pounds

  • Be comfortable climbing up tall ladders and working at elevated levels

  • Possess a positive attitude and work ethic

  • Follow safety protocols

  • Ability to work in cold and warm conditions

  • Ability to work independently or as an active member of a team

  • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Ability to work with the public

  • Understand and follow instruction both verbally and in writing

  • Ability to be on feet and/or walk for extended periods of time

  • Hold a Class B CDL license or be willing to obtain a CDL license.  The City of Pana will provide training for successful candidate.
