Police Officer Lateral Transfer Eligibility Applications Being Accepted
​The City of Pana will be accepting applications for employment to update the lateral transfer eligibility list for full-time police officer positions. All lateral transfer candidates must show they are currently or recently employed within the past 12 months as a full-time certified Peace Officer by a State of Illinois law enforcement agency, with a waiver of training approved by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.

A full-time position will be available for hire by January 2026. Applications can be obtained on the cityofpana.org/careers webpage, or by contacting Pana PD.

Police Officer Benefits Include: Union membership representation, 10-hour working shifts; rotating 4 or 5 day work week with 3 or 4 days off. 9-step longevity wage scale with 2% increases, starting salary $5,281.68 - $5,507.08/month with additional 8.91% pension contribution made by the City above your salary for downstate police pension plan. 13 paid holidays, 12 sick days of which 5 can be Personal days, excellent health and dental plans. 50% individual health insurance premium coverage until Medicare age for those who retire with 25 or more years of service.
